Liz and I both have Mondays off. Best thing about that is we can chill and do hobbies or watch a movie. Sometimes we do both at the same time. Today she decided to paint our box fan for whatever reason and I asked if she’s seen this movie. Of course, she hadn’t. I remember my mom showing me this movie for the first time. She has really good taste.
Can’t Hardly Wait is a staple 90’s comedy. Mixed with an array of stars from that decade, we get an easy going comedy that keeps you on your toes. There‘s over ten cast members to keep up with during the duration of the movie so let’s get into it.
We see stars like Seth Green, Peter Facinelli, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Ethan Embry. The plot line follows different characters at their senior graduation party. Everyone is there for a different reason. Our main protagonist, Preston (Embry), is set on telling the love of his life, Amanda (Hewitt), that he’s been in love with her since freshman year. He thinks he has a shot because her jock boyfriend, Mike (Facinelli), has broken up with her before he attends college in the fall.
The movie takes us through the swapping perspectives. There are also continuing running gags throughout the movie that I really don’t want to spoil. Also, the characters are very relatable to the point that you’ll find yourself pointing at some character in the movie and saying, “that’s definitely me”. Liz said I was most relatable to the stupid UFO nerds. I disagree. A lot.
The soundtrack is great in this movie too. There’s a lot of pop punk. It just captures the 90’s era very well, and they don’t make movies like this anymore. Plus if you have a hard time watching movies because you find it hard to pay attention to the storyline, this is a good one to try. You’re getting a different plot line continuation every few minutes so it makes it an engaging watch. It’s pretty funny too. AMAN-DUH
