Stardew Valley (2016)

This game almost cost me graduating from college. It was on sale for ten bucks when I stumbled upon it. I though nothing of it but was soon addicted so beware.

Stardew Valley is a sandbox style game where you’re set on a farm left by your grandfather. You have to expand and develop the farm to sell crops. This is how you make money. You also can craft items after gathering resources around the town of Stardew Valley. You can craft items that produce other goods like beer and jelly. You can also fish and mine to gain resources. You’re able to customize your appearance, farm, and house. The game is also multiplayer.

Stardew Valley can also be modded if you’re into that stuff. You can mod different interactions with the residents and make more crafting items like tractors. The game is never ending. It cycles through the four different seasons and the climate and landscape change accordingly. Each season gives you access to different resources and limits access to others and game interactions.

The town is full of different residents that have their own unique backgrounds. You can develop relationships with multiple town residents. There are different storylines that lead to quests that you can engage in. It’s a roleplaying game where you can strengthen relationships with whoever you want. You can also marry characters and have kids. It’s kind of like sims, and Minecraft but on a farm and more pixely.

The end goal is to save the town community center with the profits you make from the farm. You can also engage in a somewhat evil route that lets you benefit from your profits without saving the town’s community center. You’ll have to buy the game to see that story line. It’s under twenty bucks and on all consoles.
