Liz wanted to watch the series so we binged it over the weekend. Please don’t judge me. I have definitely made fun of this entire series because it was originally Twilight fan fiction. And you can tell.

All I gotta say is the first one is hot garbage but we genuinely liked the second and third one.

So the films follow Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan through three film installments. Jamie portrays Christian Grey, our dominant, and Dakota as Anastasia, our submissive.

Anastasia has to interview Christian, a young multi-millionaire with an obscure childhood stemming from being orphaned as a four year old. Shes very timid and quiet, and this sparks his interest enough to tell her that he wants a relationship with her for some reason. But it’s not a normal relationship, per say.

Look we all know what these movies are about. Sex. BDSM. Kinky shit. But besides that, it is also a love story following our two protagonists overcoming their fears. It’s one of those polar opposite attraction type deals. And a whole lot of “I CAN FIX HIM.”

There are definitely cute and comedic moments throughout the series. I wasn’t a fan of Jamie’s acting in the first movie. He was very mechanical and bland while trying to portray some suave, dominant figure. Also, the first movie had a LOT of lines from the first book (yes I started reading the series after we finished the films). That being said, the lines seem very forced and not natural upon delivery.

The acting improved after the first film, though, and the dialogue seemed better and more believable.

Just don’t take these movies so seriously. Grab your boo thing and cuddle up. Maybe pour a glass of wine too. Also, the soundtracks in each movie are definitely top tier.
