I rewatched the original before starting this one. I highly recommend you do as well. The differences between the original and this one, make it a more hyped watch for sure. This movie also makes acknowledges to the original and deserve to be noted.

Anyways, I watched this one alone, over morning coffee. 10/10 would recommend.

So if you’ve never seen the original, I think this is still watchable. However, to understand some references in the movie, you might want to watch it.

This movie is a blast from the opening sequence to the end. It’s very suspenseful and you’ll find yourself holding your breath for some scenes.

The practical effects are absolutely amazing. This movie has some great gore, something not in the original. The original was realeased in 1981, so I’ll give it a pass. Also, the effects done in the original were fantastic for it’s time, I just wanted to point out the differences.

The deaths in this movie are gruesome.

I really enjoyed that the plot is set in an apartment building instead of the usual cabin in the woods.

The movie follows a family that is stuck in an apartment building after an earthquake that renders their elevator useless.

After the earthquake, one of the kids discovers a volume of the Naturom Demonto, one of three. After citing an incantation from the book, the Deadites are summoned.

A Deadite takes possession of their mom. Left with their visiting Aunt to protect them, and no way out, the chaos begins. For the sake of a great watch, I’ll leave it at that for you to find out the rest.

If you don’t like blood, don’t watch this.
