This game was very surprising. I bought this for Christmas and put in six hours the first day I played it. If you enjoyed sim games like Stardew Valley, you’ll like this game.

Dredge is essentially a farming simulator with a dark backstory. You start off as a fisherman that crashed on an island. There, the mayor makes you the towns fisherman and loans you a boat. You start off in a very slow boat with the job of fishing the waters surrounding you.

It’s basically just a fishing simulator until it gets dark. Once it’s dark you’re susceptible to being killed by the monsters and supernatural happenings that loom in the dark depths of the waters you fish.

You can sell the fish and resources you find to upgrade your boat and get better fishing equipment.

It also has a story mode that you follow as you explore the surrounding islands on your map.

It’s very fun and spooky. I’m very afraid of the ocean so this game terrifies me, but I love it so much. It’s a very calm game if you fish during the day but the nights make it so much fun!

It’s under 20 bucks on Steam and has a 5 dollar DLC they added in November that includes an additional boat upgrade and more monsters and quests.
