For the past few months, I’ve still come home to random packages on my doorstep. Each package contained a book picked by one of my best friends.
Red Rising follows a dystopian world set on Mars where a society has evolved into a governmental system where 14 groups of Colors rule and manage their planet ranked specifically by their Color. Their Color varies into different classes in the society that determine their jobs and abilities within the planet and social class status.
This book is part of a five-part series.
The story follows Darrow, a low color Red, who finds out reality isn’t all what he deems it to be.
This book brought me back to a time that I was reading dystopian books in their prime. Works like Hunger Games and Divergent. Works as such make for a memorable first time read, as does this one.
I found myself reacting to the book out loud and sometimes dramatically.
This book is very real. It has gore, tragedy, and more explicit themes like assault, so be wary before reading.
I personally love books that show us everything in a dystopian science fiction theme. It’s only fair to capitalize on how deep and raw a world like this could be. It makes for an entertaining and emotional read.
I highly recommend this book if you enjoy any dystopian genres or science fiction.
