This was a first time watch for me and Liz.
I don’t have a lot of negative reviews on this blog but it’s time to add one.
I tried really hard to like this movie. I could tell that it was a lower budget film, and that doesn’t mean the movie will be bad, but everything was bad. It kept my focus only because of how bad it was.
From the incredibly long opening credits scene, the movie being zoomed in on the actors face the ENTIRE fucking time, and the fact that you can point out the killer before the movie is even halfway done, makes it almost unwatchable.
I love some low budgeted horror movies, honestly. Halloween and Texas Chainsaw are literally staples in horror and have some of the lowest budgets ever. I guess I just want to make the point that just because you have a lower budget, doesn’t mean your movie has to suck.
This felt like watching a Lifetime movie, and not a good one.
The movie stars Ashley Benson, who is also a producer. She plays Vicky, a cam girl that has split up from her boyfriend. He kicked her out of their place after the breakup, so she heads to an isolated cabin in the middle of the snowy woods. She’s staying there for the week, using the place to film some content for her cam girl website, called 18 And Over.
During her stay, she finds out that a family had possibly been murdered in her cabin, and that there is a killer on the loose in her area.
If y’all want to waste an hour and a half of your time, watch this movie.
A shining light of the film would be the supporting cast consisting of some well-known names like Pamela Anderson, Paris Hilton, and Luis Guzman. Some of the lines they delivered made me laugh. This is the only positive I have about the movie besides the soundtrack.
The acting is average. The script and dialogue just feel boring. There are way too many scenes of Ashley Benson being a cam girl. It felt like it was just an excuse for her to dance half naked on the screen.
Again, I have to mention that for the majority of the movie the camera is literally zoomed onto a character’s face throughout each scene. Like directly zoomed onto their face. I got a headache watching it.
It’s technically a slasher. There are tons of off-screen kills, which I feel weakens the movie even more, being under the slasher category, which is my favorite genre of horror.
We watched it on Hulu. Any watch with Liz, I consider a good watch, but we both give this one a thumbs down.
My spooky rating would be a 0.5/5.
